Fashion Show in Kiti - Tres Jolie Puts on a Demonstration

Sunday May 2nd saw Andreas Kyriakides of Tres Jolie put all his fine talents into a show of Fashion and Beauty for the residents of Kiti.

Presented by Michael Jordan of FM Radio, the demonstrations started at 4.30pm with Andreas and Stylist Maria Bassil both displaying new cutting and styling techniques on some lucky models. Styling and clothes for the show were provided by Sophia of Boutique Finetsa and Make up by Vasia Fantousi. Model Maria Fantousi pictured right was also present and relished the chance to have her hair styled by Andreas.

The windy weather wasn't enough to spoil the high spirits of all the participants and spectators. Plenty of food and drinks were available and I took the opportunity to wander around the hair and beauty rooms in the converted apartment above. Also based at the Studio is Interior Decorator Dia Stephanou who was available on the day for help and advice.

The show continued late into the evening with DJ Mike keeping the party going. Andreas will be hosting another event on the Finnikoudes later on the year.

Andreas has two studios one in Larnaca town and the other in Kiti where the show was held.

For further information call Andreas on 24 425 055 or 24 100 102.

Are You In The Pink?

Have you noticed that some people seem to dress effortlessly and everything they wear suits them perfectly and looks stylish? Maddening isn’t it. Most people will admit that they know some of the colours that suit them, but they certainly don’t know them all and often make expensive mistakes. Businessmen will quickly argue that as their suits are boring shades of grey, grey and grey, what use is it thinking about colour. Interestingly, in both cases knowing the correct colours and styles that suit you and your personality can make a huge difference and wearing something you look good in can do wonders to your self confidence and your image with those around you, as Colour Me Beautiful consultant Katerina Damianou explains –
‘In reality, the clothes that we spend time and effort choosing are usually the right colours for us; it is the rapidly bought ‘must have’ outfit that is usually the mistake. Wearing a colour that complements our skin tone can make us look vibrant whilst the wrong tones can drain our skin, making us look tired and older. The same principles apply to men and there is still room for maneuver with formal suits which come in different tones of grey and shirts and ties can be cleverly used to soften the harshness of the suit’.

Colour analysis has been popular in the UK since the 1980s, having become established in the States fifty years ago and in recent years, more and more people are contacting experts like Katerina for advice, especially as they feel that they cannot afford any expensive mistakes. Wearing the wrong colours can have a negative effect on how you feel. A glance in the mirror will reveal that your skin looks dull and your eyes look tired. This can psychologically dampen your spirits which is no good if you want to impress work colleagues or clinch a deal. With Katerina’s help you can discover a spectrum of colours that look really good on you and importantly because they complement each other, wearing the right colours becomes easy, your wardrobe becomes more orderly and versatile. This saves time and effort and you become the envy of your friends.

Katerina first learned about colour when she was working for a major cosmetics company in London and saw how colours were used in the fashion world. She trained as a colour and style consultant and has been sharing the ‘tricks of the trade’ with clients ever since. As well as individual consultations, Katerina has worked on corporate identities for local companies. She lives in Nicosia but is often in Larnaca and is happy to give presentations to clubs and associations or private consultations for a group of four. And is there a perfect time to have your colours analysed?
‘I see ladies of all ages with great results but I think a good time is when someone is leaving school and instead of buying fun clothes is making expensive purchases of a suit and other outfits for their business wardrobe and as well as advice on colours I can help with how to successfully adapt the latest fashions to suit individual lifestyles’.
